Dutch Boy paintlist App

How do you get young people talking about a 100-year-old brand like Dutch Boy paint? Create a one-of-a-kind mobile app that makes finding colors feel young, fun and simple. Targeted at a passionate, music-loving Millennial consumer base, Dutch Boy’s paintlist uses song-identifying technology to translate music into actual color palettes. It analyzes specific attributes from a song to create three custom color palettes unique to a song’s identity, giving consumers the confidence to design a room that matches the style and personality of their favorite music. Designed and developed for both iOS and Android platforms.

The launch was supported with a new Dutch Boy website, in-store POS, digital media buys targeted by user type and interests – and through blogger outreach. This campaign was covered by The New York Times, International Herald Tribune and a number of leading paint and interior design blogs. More than 60,000 downloads of the app took place in the first three months.
